Ready To Ramble Along With Us?

You found the place to do just that!

“Not all who Ramble are lost . . .”

We are about to head out on an extended road trip!

Call it what you want—Crazy? Early Retirement? Sabbatical? Mid-Life Crisis? Gap Year? Whatever it’s called, our plan for the next year is to travel full-time in our motorhome on the Pacific coast all the way down to Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico then north to Alaska.

Nov 2017 to March 2018 (MN to Baja)

April 2018 to Sept 2018 (Baja to Alaska)

We might love it so much we won’t ever want to stop “rambling” around or maybe we’ll find a place we love so much, we’ll put down new stakes. Whatever happens, we are ready to live a new way while experiencing and seeing new things.

“What if” scenarios won’t stop us, otherwise, we would continue with working and living the same old way. We want to share our travels while also sharing how we got to this point.

Mr. Ramble and I both lived in Minnesota our entire lives. We’ve done all the stereotypical winter activities including ice skating, skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing, but we slowly came to long for non-stop flip flop and shorts weather. Minnesota is probably more cold than super snowy which meant hibernating inside from November to March, almost half the year of completely avoiding and not enjoying the outdoors.

Minnesota winter temperatures in the negatives are normal with wind chills making it even worse. While snowfall amounts in the Minneapolis metro area of 50 inches for the season are average. And it doesn’t warm up to melt the snow the day after a snowfall, it hangs around all winter long.

By late December, our hours of sunlight are well under 9 hours.  Ironically, the brand of our motorhome that we purchased for full-time traveling says our mission in one word, Sunseeker!

We hope you will Ramble Along with us!

We keep our list of posts here with the most recent posts on top. If you want to see how we got started with rambling, start here with our first post, Just Around The Corner at the bottom of our posts on the Home page.

C'mon, we want you to RAMBLE Along with us!

    Hi there

Great to read about your travels. We are also a 50 something couple – living in New Zealand and about to embark on a campervan trip to Europe for four months starting in April.

We are keen to plot our route for family and friends and interested to know what app / website you’ve used for your map route.

      Hi Douglas,
Sounds like you have an exciting plan for traveling through Europe! We have New Zealand on our wish list. Google Maps is all we use. I have my phone set to track our locations so then you can view your travels by date ranges, then do a screen shot. Or you can always just do manual destinations with a screen shot. We would be lost without the Google Maps app–love it! Best traveling wishes to you.
